Pauline is a qualified and experienced supervisor, who uses her experience as a counselling trainer, and her extensive knowledge of the different models of counselling, to benefit the supervisee.

She believes that the supervisor/supervisee relationship should mirror the counsellor/counselee relationship, using the Core Conditions of counselling.  The relationship should be equal regardless of the experience of the counsellor, recognising that some students may need more care and nurturing in the early days of a training placement.  Pauline recognises that the care of the supervisee is paramount if the counsellor is to take care of their clients.

How much supervision should I have?
According to guidelines from the various Codes of Ethics and Practice, the minimum recommendation for supervision is 1.5 hours per month.  This of course depends how many clients the counsellor has.  Within these 1.5 hours there should be adequate time to discuss the counsellors clients and any progress (or not) being made. Supervision isn’t just about the clients, it’s about the counsellor too and there will be adequate time to talk through any issues the counsellor might be facing personally. This will be discussed at your initial free consultation.

Supervision fees vary subject to being a student, qualified counsellor, volunteer or in paid employment. Fees will be discussed during the initial consultation.

Based in Westhoughton, supervision can be undertaken in the surrounding areas of Wigan, Chorley and Preston.  The cost of travelling would be met by the counsellor. Email Pauline for more details.

Working with Pauline as my supervisor has enabled me to grow as a counsellor while ensuring my clients are receiving a safe and ethical service. Pauline was able to support me in my varied approaches as a counsellor and also as I trained and qualified as a CBT therapist. Pauline’s experience is vast, this comes across in the stores of resources that are available as a supervisee. Pauline has the heart and approach of a counsellor set on a solid bedrock of care, knowledge and a genuine heart for what she practices. Flexible, approachable, grounded, friendly and knowledgeable. Without supervision like this I would not be the counsellor that I am today.
